![]() History & VisionMore than twenty years at the cutting edge....Established in 1986 by current owner and Managing Director Mr Jim Gray, within a 6000 sq. foot site based in Redditch. Quality was paramount from the start, and the company was accredited to BS5750 in its first year. Jim started the business utilising conventional single-spindle automatics and a plethora of second operation machinery, primarily servicing the White Goods and Automotive sectors. The embracement of advanced machining technology started almost immediately with the introduction of Wirth & Gruffat Rotary Transfer machines for complex second operations. A couple of these machines still operate today, however instead of being manually fed they are now fully automated. This was the start and still is the driving force behind MCS - Continuous Improvement in all facets of the business. The strong business driver of trying to achieve 'one-hit machining' wherever possible soon saw the introduction of CNC machines into MCS. The first machines being in the late 1980s and Tornos Sliding Heads. This was just the start of the growth of MCS in terms of both size and machining knowledge. Situated at the heart of the Midlands motorway network, just five minutes off Junction 3 of the M42 on the outskirts of Redditch, it was not only ideal for the logistical supply of our customers but also recruitment and selection. ![]() The 1990s saw the addition of several Tornos Decos and extremely skilled staff. In 1997, we moved to our current home; a 20000 sq. foot facility based at Ravensbank Business Park, Redditch. As the Millennium drew close, the business saw the introduction of non-contact measurement technology from Tessa, its first CNC Fixed Head machine from Daewoo, and Jim's son Warren Gray named as Sales Director. The early years of the new millennium continued to see the desired growth and MCS bought its first Prismatic Machining Centre from Daewoo in 2002, which moved MCS from just being a 'turning' shop into a 'machined component' facility. Investment on its own does not result in success. Aligning with the ethos of setting out to give customers support to ensure competitiveness in the market place enabled MCS to work to the principal of 'Partnership Sourcing'. Today, we have that relationship with our major customers. We believe that this working basis of the supplier/customer relationship is fundamental in achieving our mutual aims of increased quality and reduced costs. We believe in and have achieved 'Win-Win' relationships with our customers. The investment in machine tools does not stop here at MCS. Our latest machine from Miyano is the ABX 64TH2. The features of this state of the art machine will enable MCS to manufacture extremely complex components efficiently in a single setup. Add this to the already impressive range of machines, including the Miyano LZ mill turn machine (with full robotic load system for efficient billet production), and it all equates to a very capable shopfloor indeed. It is this aggressive year on year investment in the most up to date and advanced technologies, and CNC Lathe and Prismatic Machining Centres, coupled with the use of Photometrics as standard for metrology that has resulted strong working partnerships with numerous household named clients. Words and images can only say so much, and we would encourage you to visit our facility to witness for yourself the investment in state of the art technology and CNC machine tools coupled with our use of Photometrics for non-contact metrology. A visit would also enable you to feel the ethos of the company and experience its 'can do' attitude. We look forward to discussing our machining offering with you and would welcome the opportunity to present our company's capabilities to you. |
